Back on the west coast after a fun weekend in Boston. Did not finish as high as i think I could have but at the end of the day this year is not about placing highly in a head race. We are already in the thick of our new training regime which has so far proved challenging. It's a little higher intensity than either Brian or I are used to but it seems like the type of work that we need to be during and that will yield significant improvements across the course of the year. So far so good. Believe it or not we did speed work in the double yesterday. Our morning however consisted of pretty vigorous running and biking for 120'. The heart rates we are supposed to be hitting for this period of time are, well, higher than I would do on my own! It's difficult but it's reassuring to be training outside of the comfort zone. Hopefully it will pay off. While it is only almost Nivember, this is the time to be making strides for April. We have to become some special right now. April, May and into the Olympics needs to just be a reflection of the work we are doing right now. Every morning, every session we are trying to run, bike, scull, lift, eat,Sleep, and act the way Olympians would. The way the US Olympic lightweight 2x would. The Olympic Trials are not in April. They are right now.
