Down in Chula Vista now hanging out before the start of racing in the morning. Brian and I rowed on the course this morning, just doing some easy rowing with some bursts at race pace. It is awesome rowing on the Olympic Training Center course. There has always been rowing on the lake here but only until this year are they holding selection races at the training center. While it is pretty far away from the east coasters trying for the national team, its tough to beat the location and climate. We are expecting some bad weather this weekend but it is still nothing compared to what New Jersey is normally like this time of year.
Time trial at 9:30 am- top 18 go onto the heats. This will be very very competitive. In a time trial, you just never know. You have to go out and lay it down because there will be a lot of really good scullers not moving on. Not to mention, conditions can change and one part of the time trial might have a tail and the other flat water. These are things, as a competitor, you cannot control.
I will give an update of the racing tomorrow morning.
