Well..it's over. Brian and I were on the wrong side of a .07 sec margin in our semi final and missed out on the final for the lightweight 2x at the 2012 Olympic Trials. We got in the lead early in the race and sat on it. We rowed down to our competition and with complacency. We felt in control of the race but let it slip away. No excuses...the result speaks more than the excuses. I really felt like we had speed that no one else had in the regatta...its frustrating to not have the opportunity to show it in the final. Brian and my weakness in the semi final would have been our strength in the final. Our external motivation was ultimately our undoing.
Now, I am back in Newport trying to figure out the next step. The only thing I know for sure is that I will not be going to Lucerne for the Final Qualification Regatta next month.
Not sure what opportunities will present themselves but I believe that everything happens for a reason...its just tough to see what that reason is right now.
