pushed off the water yesterday because of boat traffic etc...so I took to the erg for a staple Trinity workout 5 x 1500 m/7' rest. This is a workout I know pretty well and was initially scared I might not beat my best numbers from college...however as I got into it I realized that I could push pretty hard. I averaged 1:35 for all 5 pieces finishing my last piece with a 1:34.4 avg. The erg is not that useful for technique but there is not a better indicator of fitness and it is good to stay in touch with it. I find a lot of inner strength from the erg. It is a part of myself that I think I lose sometimes being on the water all the time. The mental toughness gained from training through long winters on the erg is unmatched. Hopefully in the upcoming racing I can combine that toughness with the technical improvements from this year to achieve a new speed.
OK, off on a morning run around the harbor. As Troy would say, I need to keep my baby fat away for a while longer...
