Post Speed Order Thoughts

I really try to detach myself from results, good or bad, but it's hard not to be happy to end the 2012 season with a win. I knew that if my rib felt decent that I had the potential to win it, but obviously there is a pretty big difference between potential and just doing it. After the Charles, I was pretty fed up with performing at a very high level in training and then dropping the ball when a race rolled around. I decided that if my rib was healthy enough to race at the Speed Order, I would operate according to these guidelines:

1. Don't worry about the things you can't control. It's a waste of energy. (i.e. other people, conditions, etc..)

2. Fight. Moderation sucks.

3. Just Do It. Stop trying to do it perfectly and just freaking DO IT.

By no means was this weekend perfect, but I think I put down a race that was closer to what I know I am capable of. Unfortunately, I got held up quite a bit towards the end of the race by some people who didn't want to yield.

While it was nice to get the result this weekend, it really changes nothing. I still have the same set of issues I need to work on in order to be fast in the spring. The next few months will be spent building a bigger engine for the spring/summer. Nordic ski season starts in a couple weeks!
