Underway
Lot of waiting around, lot of unknowns, lot of nervous energy. It's all good!
I was happy to finally get on the course this morning, go to work, and do what I came here to do: race it up.
I knew my opponent would be quick off the start, so I didn't fight it much. After a couple minutes and weathering his storm, I lengthened out and drew away for the remanding of the race. It was a solid row and thought I handled the water well. It was a good race to start the regatta with. Anytime you are able to cruise through the Enclosures at a low rate, absorbing the gentle applause of the crowd, its a great feeling.
I will not be as lucky in the coming rounds; I will have to be lighting it up through the Enclosures. But, this was a good dry run.
I race a German tomorrow, as far as I know he was in the German 8 at some point. Not sure what his sculling is like, but I am sure he will be good.
So for now, just resting up, fueling up, and preparing for another go at it tomorrow. Glad the ball is rolling though..
