2x Trials

We have been down in Princeton for a few days now, paddling around, staying loose, sleeping, doing a very pointless race for lanes, paddling some more, and sleeping. We have eaten food occasionally.

We are down here for the purpose of earning the right to represent the USA in the M2x. The opportunity to do that is tomorrow morning at 7:50 am. No other time, no other place. No second chances, no do overs. We have not raced a whole lot together, but I firmly believe that we have the capacity to do some pretty special things in the 2x. We have showed it in practice on many occasions. That has put us in a position to win the race tomorrow, but it does not alone win the race. Not even close. That is where the element of performance comes into play. 7:50 am tomorrow is show time. Lights on, cameras on, audience watching. Perfect.

We did a couple laps of Shadow rowing this morning, visualizing our race plan, and practicing our moves. Good relaxation, flow, and athleticism. We respect our opponents and know that they will provide a good match for us. We obviously will be aware of them during the race, but mostly need to be just trying to move our boat as fast as possible from A to B.
