Since my last post, my sleep has been top notch. 8 pm to 6, then 9pm to 7 last night. Boy, I feel better! Tommorrow it will be a week that we have been here, so I guess that is about right. We have continued to log the easy miles on the course, fine tuning, and getting more and more comfortable. The course has been incredibly bouncy, but we have done a pretty good job of just rolling with it. Nothing we can do about the wakes and there will likely be plenty of wake during racing. The more we can learn to suspend through the wash the better off we will be. So far so good.
Today and tomorrow we will do some race rehearsal pieces to get our bodies switched back on and ready to race 2k. I feel pretty tuned up in general, but its good to get familiar with the marks, calls, and the burn of the race. Looking at the progression for the M2x, there is quite a bit of rest no matter what, so its important that we are ready to put the pedal down from stroke one on Monday. There will be plenty of time to rest and recover even if we are going to the rep. If you are lucky enough to go straight to the AB semi, then you have 4 days of rest. Err what? Yeah, pretty crazy. At World champs and Olympics the racing is drawn out over a week, so there is a higher onus on the singular performance and not the recovery from day to day. At World Cups, recovering from day to day and race to race is huge. It still will be of course, just less so.

We will likely do a 1000m and 500m piece today. We slept in this morning, ate a leisurely breakfast, and just had a lazy morning overall. It's been great. The idea behind this being that everyone has been rowing at the same time in the morning, so the traffic is horrible. We decided to wait it out, go in the middle of the day and try and get some calmer water. Hope it works out. Our scout, Andrew Campbell, rowed around lunch yesterday and said there was not a soul on the course. So we are trusting the young buck. In other news, the humidity has decreased slightly but it has still be comfortably in the 90s with 70% humidity... Lots of sweating going on. The lightweights are happy because they are light, but we are just trying to stay strong. I enjoy the role reversal.
I lost to Coach Ng handily in Table Tennis yesterday. He is a student of the game and I mean to be one too.
