Plenty going on down here right now, haven't had the time to put it all into words yet, but here are a couple of videos of training that might be more enjoyable than my prose.
The week started with four minute pieces and some switches in doubles. Here is a clip of some 2x racing featuring, Lafferty/Meyer in the near boat, Peter/Steve in the middle, Josh/myself on the far side, and the lightweight pair all the way on the outside.
2x racing
This is a shot of Peter and I yesterday, about 30 min into a 60 min firm steady state row with the lightweights. Pretty good cruising speed all morning.
Peter was initially stroking during that practice, but after warming up, we decided to switch the lineup. Dan documented.
This morning, we did 4 x 2k in singles. Pictured is Peter, Steve, yours truly, and Kyle. No shortage of yellow boats.
Here is a clip of the final 2k piece. The goal for the workout was to maintain 90 % speed throughout the four pieces. 90 % of gold medal pace for a men's single is around 1.49 per 500.
Tomorrow afternoon, Peter and I will join Ben, my Dad, my brother Tom, and others out in San Diego for some fun in the Masters B event at the Crew Classic! This is it. The kick off of the social rowing calendar!
