last practice in Craftsbury

After one of the most disrupted and disheartening months of training I can remember, I was surprised and excited to have a solid 2k piece this morning, going 6:03.1, a PR by 3.7 seconds from last year. I probably went out too conservatively, but considering how much I have been struggling, I just wanted to have a complete piece that I was in control of from the first stroke to the last. No lulls, no blow ups, just smooth lengthy strokes. I will never be one to judge myself on an erg number, only by boat speed; however, it felt to me during this piece like I had an upgraded engine. I've never covered that distance as aerobically as I did this morning and that is incredibly encouraging.

Lots of laundry and cleaning to do before I am ready to leave for Clemson tomorrow, so I am going to leave the more extensive and detailed blogging to the 18 hours I will spend on the train over the next couple of days.

'til then.

Loaded up.
The launch, too.
